How to Play

Welcome to The Forever DM
The Forever DM puts you in a living D&D adventure guided by Aldric the Chronicler, your AI narrator.
Everything happens through conversation. Type what your character does, says, or wants to try, and Aldric will narrate the outcome, roll dice, and keep your character sheet updated automatically.
"I cautiously push open the tavern door and scan the room for anyone suspicious."

Attacks & Combat
When combat begins, Aldric tracks initiative, HP, and turn order. On your turn, describe your attack naturally.
"I swing my longsword at the goblin."
"I cast Fireball centered on the group of skeletons."
Aldric rolls your attack, applies damage, and tracks everything. Your character sheet updates in real time.

Skills & Abilities
You don't need to know the rules. Just describe what you want to do, and Aldric will figure out the right check.
"I try to pick the lock on the chest."
Aldric rolls Dexterity (Thieves' Tools)
"Can I tell if the merchant is lying?"
Aldric rolls Wisdom (Insight)
Spells, class features, and inventory are all tracked for you. Open the Character Sheet panel to check your stats at any time.

Resting & Healing
Use the dropdown arrow next to the Send button to take a rest. Resting is disabled during combat.
Short Rest
Spend hit dice to heal. You roll one at a time — each heals 1d{class die} + your CON modifier. Stop whenever you want or run out of dice.
Long Rest
Fully restores your HP, clears conditions, and resets all spell slots. You also recover half your spent hit dice (minimum 1).
Your hit dice pool equals your character level. Barbarians roll d12s, fighters d10s, rogues d8s, wizards d6s — it depends on your class.

Tips & Tricks
A few things that make the experience better:
- •Be descriptive — "I leap off the balcony and tackle the guard" is more fun than "I attack."
- •Talk to NPCs — they remember things you say and can give you quests, clues, and items.
- •Check your journal — Aldric logs key events automatically so you can review what happened.
- •Ambient music adapts to the mood of your scene. Toggle it with the speaker icon.
